I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C). I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Windsor. I completed my master’s degree in counselling psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University.
In my practice I use a combination of theoretical approaches to tailor compassionate, supportive treatment to the individual needs of my clients. Understanding who my clients are and what is important to them is at the foundation of everything I do. The therapeutic modalities I use include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I am currently completing training in the use of virtual reality in therapy and a three-year course of study in Somatic Experiencing (SE).
Following a five-year career as a varsity athlete at the University of Windsor I signed a free-agent contract with the Montreal Alouettes, of the Canadian Football League. I spent the part of my working life teaching English, mathematics, and history, coaching a wide range of sports, and instructing adults and children in Wing Chun and Sanda Kung Fu. I also worked as a child and youth worker in the group home and foster care system. During my post-graduate studies, I moved into the addictions field, where I spent two years as a support worker in a residential rehabilitation facility. Outside of regular working hours I write fiction. My first novel was published in 2014. My wife and I live in Lawrencetown and we have four wonderful adult children.
